Is it Safe to Skip Shampoo if You Have Thick, Dry, Curly Hair?
                A lot of women are skipping shampoo these days, especially in the natural hair community. But is it the right thing to do for our hair? Chemicals like  Sodium laureth sulfate can be very detrimental to the hair because it strips the hair from its natural oil. Some take a more natural approach and use products like baking soda and apple cider vinegar to wash the hair. But are these natural products really beneficial for the hair?

               According to Dr. David Kingsley, a New York City hair expert, shampooing is the best way to remove dirt, oil, and product buildup from your hair. You need to shampoo your hair at least once a week. If you wash your hair twice a week, you can use a great conditioner like Tresemme moisture rich with vitamin E conditioner instead of shampoo to co-wash your hair between shampoos. The conditioner will not remove the product buildups completely, but it will keep the hair clean enough until the next wash. It is also good to use a great leave-in conditioner if your hair feels dry after shampooing. I love pre-pooing my hair with a great carrier oil before using shampoo on my hair. The oil protects the  ends of my hair against the harsh chemicals in the shampoo while my scalp gets a good clean.
            You need to find out what works for you when it comes to taking care of your hair, but not using shampoo at all is not the best way to go.
