I cannot bake to save my life, but I love baked goods. Cheese cake is one of my favorite desserts. Being on this diet has kept me away from it for a long time. Being on this diet has kept me away from a lot of sweets and comfort foods. I have to constantly remind myself that a restricted diet never works. A healthy diet that allows me to eat what I love to eat in moderation is what I call a lifestyle diet.
Eliminating the food that you love from your diet can only lead to over-eating after reaching your goal weight. That's why we've seen so many of us gain all the weight back after working so hard to lose it. The way you eat now should be the way you eat after doing your victory dance. What I do is I follow a strict diet from Monday to Saturday, and I splurge on Sundays. Yep, I break all the rules on the Lord's day. Why Sunday? Because that's when we have our family gathering. We eat, we drink, and I cheat on my diet. Sometimes cheating means having a toasted raisin bagel with Philadelphia Plain Cream Cheese for breakfast instead of one hard boiled egg and a bowl of cereals with milk. While I know that Sunday is my splurging day, I pick my poison carefully. I don't over-eat. I don't do anything that would require me to walk more than three miles the next day.
