Fitness Friday: Hitting The Plateau And Saying Goodbye To Mr. Pinot

Hello Everyone!
Thank God it’s Friday! I have the day off. Yay! I love to enjoy a glass of wine – or two- on my off days. Okay, here is the truth! I love wine. While I am not a wine connoisseur,  I know white wines are  lower in calories than red wines, but I always go for the  red wine. An AbV (Alcohol by Volume) between 9 and 12 percent is recommended in order to maintain a normal weight, but I go for at least 15%. The higher the percentage of alcohol in the wine, the more calories you will consume. I also know that  one glass of wine is all you need once a day, 7 days a week  to live a healthier and longer life. But I tend to combine  three days into one. So, instead having one glass of wine on Monday, I would wait until Wednesday to have three. That makes sense, right? Wrong. I have the worse metabolism in the world, and asking my body to burn extra calories at night is a sin that I should not even commit. Although the bible says it’s okay to drink wine. I wonder how much alcohol was in the wine when God decided that? Pinot Noir is sabotaging my weight loss goal, and that needs to stop!

Here’s my problem with wine y’all! My belly seems to get bigger when I consume too much wine in one day. And as you know, the fats around the belly is the worst to get rid of. If only those fats were stored around my derrière ( please excuse my French). I mean, what woman does not want a bigger ass….et!
I have been trying to lose the last 10 pounds  since February with no success.  I would lose 5 pounds and gain it all back two weeks later. My relationship with Pinot Noir is the reason for my failure. Don’t get me wrong, wine is “healthy for me”. It is the way I drink it that cause the problem. That’s why I call what we have a “relationship”. My goal is to take a break from drinking wine for a month to see if that will solve the problem. Getting rid of Mr. Pinot will be easy. All I have to do is make sure I don’t leave the store with a bottle, because I will get weak if I see it in the house:-) And no, I won’t need to go to any AA meetings. My name is Nerline, and I am not an alcoholic. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “That’s exactly what an alcoholic would say.”
What’s stopping you from reaching your goal weight?

I need to work out more, I can be a little bit bored in working out, but I must get back with it. I don't drink at all, so wine has never had an effect on me. Happy Friday doll, I hope you have a lovely and relaxing weekend xx

I drink a glass when I take a bubble bath, I understand what you mean it does gives you belly fat if drinking it every day. Do you know if you eat avocado it help reduce belly fat but you have to eat in moderation. Have a great weekend doll.

I'm not a wine drinker but, I do have a glass occasionally. I'm more of a beer drinker and I think that's even worst than drinking wine, right? Anyway, the good thing about it is that I don't drink beer all the time I only drink it once a while even though I always have them at hand. What's keeping the from loosing weight is not being able to stick to a particular diet. I would go to the supermarket stock up on all the good and healthy groceries that I need for the week and on my way out I would reach for boxes of crakers and cookies and chocolate, you name it. I have been on a weight loss myself and so far so good, needless to say how proud I'm of myself it's been a week and I haven't cheated. Yay

I am a wine drinker too, but I mostly drink white wine because red wine gives me migraines. It is okay to have one glass of wine in the evening, just don't overdue it. I hope you succeed in losing that last 10 pounds!

I decided to treat myself with a big bottle of baileys on mothers day. Finished it , with a tiny little bit of hubbys help, in less than four days. Then jumped on the scale the following week and I had piled on 3kg. That taught me!

  15. May 16, 2014 / 5:28 pm

I agree, Neti! But I am not feeling my best self right now. I need to do this.

Oh well, I get you. Red wine is my fav, I prefer it to the white one. Try to reduce the quantity, maybe just one glass a week in the weekend, to not totally eliminate it! As we say here, red wine makes "good blood" and is kinda healthy!:P Happy weekend Nerline! xo

I love wine, like you said drinking in moderation is the key. Good luck in breaking that relationship with wine.

I don't drink alcohol but I sure love sugary drinks – sweet tea and lemonade to be exact.

  21. May 17, 2014 / 8:47 am

Sweet tea is addictive too, Jay. My hubby cannot live without it.

i am not much of an alcohol drinker and I am mostly a social drinker you would hardly catch me drinking wine at home but I have seen some serious beer guts so I understand what you mean. Moderation is key and you will be just fine.

I drink pinot on a daily basis but I drink about 3-4 ounces and it doesn't seem to impact my weight loss. What's keeping me from my last 15 lbs is my damn binge eating smh.

Haha, this post made me smile. You sound like one of my girlfriends. She loves her nightly wine and refuses to give it up. As for me, I love my ice cream. I want to have it every night, too bad my body doesn't think so.

  27. May 21, 2014 / 1:04 pm

My eating is my problem, I wonder if my dentist could get rid of my sweet tooth lol

  28. May 21, 2014 / 8:27 pm

I cannot eat ice cream to save my live. Thanks for commenting, Faith!

  29. May 12, 2015 / 2:19 pm

This post cracked me up! I believe you, although the first step IS admission! lol Your issue is wine, mine is sweet tea. Man that stuff is like crack for me, I just cant seem to shake it. But the juice detox I just did is kinda like shock therapy and I haven't had anything but water to drink since. So go cold turkey girl! LOL!

  30. May 12, 2015 / 2:19 pm

I think I have the food thing under control for now. Pizza is my weakness, but we don't keep it in the freezer. Kisses, sis!
