New Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream For Natural Hair REVIEW

Hi everyone,
I hope all of you moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day. As for me? Most of my wish did come true, but I found myself unconsciously preparing breakfast for Cianna, did her hair, and cut daddy’s hair, too. On top of that, I tucked both kids in. Mind you that my wish was to have one day off. But like I said, moms rarely have a day off.  I received a free sample for Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream for Natural Hair a month ago. I used it a couple of times, and today I am ready to tell you what I think about it.

Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream For Natural Hair REVIEW

My opinion

Pros

  • Smells great
  • Affordable
  • Mostly wonderful ingredients

Cons

  • Leaves hair dry a few days later
  • Misleading claims (contains Petrolatum)
  • Takes too long too dry
This curling cream can be used as both a deep conditioner and a leave-in. I used it as a leave-in conditioner  and it made my hair really soft at first, then my hair felt dry and it was not able to absorb any moisture for a while. I am sure it’s because it contains petrolatum, although the manufacturer claims that it does not contain any mineral oil.  I applied it to my hair before my twists in the hope of getting twist outs that would last, but that did not happen. This product is a little too heavy for me. It takes too long to dry, and it does not define any curls. Women with 4c curly hair like mine will not benefit from this product. If you have 3c hair, you can give it a try, but stay away if you have naturally kinky hair. The petrolatum is too high on the ingredient list for me, and because of that, I will not buy this product.

I just hate when hair companies try to sneak petrolatum in their products! My hair never respons well to that ingredient.

I am so glad you did a review on this product because I was tempted to buy it last week. I use the leave-in conditioner and so far no regrets. I will stick to what I am using now til its gone. Thanks!

How could they say there's no petroleum in this product when it is clearly listed. I've never used any of Cantu's products for this same reason. Thanks for being honest in your review.
