DIY All Natural 100% Pure Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Hello My Lovely Readers,

Today I have such a fun post for you. We are making coconut oil! How fun is that? Coconut oil is one of the best oils to cook with.  It is good for your overall health. It gives you energy, allowing you to burn fat. Coconuts contain Ketones, which reduce seizures. It is good at lessening your chances of getting Heart Disease and Alzheimer’s. It’s good for your skin, your hair, and your waistline. What’s not to love about this supper gift from mother nature?
It is too bad I cannot cook with this oil. See, my daughter is allergic to tree nuts. So, I have to be really careful with what I put in the food when I cook. But who says I cannot make some good ol’ coconut oil for my hair, uh?

Quick Facts About Coconut Oil For Your Hair
  1. Coconut oil contains lauric acid and monolaurin that can kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. You may have those on your scalp and don’t even know it. Fungus can prevent circulations, which can slow down hair growth.
  2. Coconut oil can prevent hair damage caused by the sun.
  3. Coconut oil is one of the oils that easily penetrate the hair shaft, which help in keeping your hair soft and frizz-free.
  1. Break the shell and scoop the coconut out with the help of a kitchen knife.
  2. Slice it as thin as you possibly can and put it in your food processor or blender. Don’t forget to add water.
  3. Blend until you get a puree.
  4. Strain as needed. You can use two different strainers depending on how big the holes are. The smaller the holes, the better, because you are trying to getting the liquid part only.
  5. It will be hard to get all the solid parts out, anyway! Cover the milk and let it soak overnight.
  6. The next morning, scoop out the top part (the milk)  and cook it on medium heat using a stove top.

Whatever you do, do not burn the oil. You will lose all the good stuff (nutrients). It took me a few minutes to make this oil using only one coconut. Can you imagine turning 100 coconuts into oil? I have a new found respect for those making my EfaGold Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I know they use more complex machines, but it is still hard work. The question is, will I ever buy coconut oil from a store again? No.  I think I got enough oil for $2.00. I am not sure if I left anything out in the directions. Please ask me any questions below.

Making your own oil is some work and you had the desire and patience to do it. Kudos my friend!! We grow the trees here in Sfla and we drink the water and eat the meat every chance we get. But making the oil, no can do. I prefer to buy it.

If your daughter is allergic, it's probably not a good idea to use it in your hair. What if she comes in contact with your hair when she hugs you?

it depends on how much oil you are making. Cook it until there is no more milk on the bottom of the pan.

Great information! Does your hair respond differently to your oil versus the organic store brand?

I think this one keeps my hair softer a little bit longer. Other than that, there is no major change.
