Hairstyle| Top Knot Bun with A Bow

Ahh, the top knot bun! I have seen so many pictures about the doughnut bun on Pinterest. Some do it using a sock. And others do it using a special hair accessory like the bun maker. Some do it with a twist. Some do it with a few braids. I am sure if you go on YouTube,  you will find  hundreds of video tutorials on how to achieve that chic hair-do.  My hair is in a top knot bun because there is no hole in the middle. I did not use a sock or any special accessory. All I used was bobby pins and some extra Marley hair to make the bun look fuller and also create the bow. Extra hair is necessary if your natural hair is short. You can make this top knot bun as sleek or as messy as you like. As you can see in the pictures below, mine went from sleek to messy in a matter of days.

#WashDayExperience

{1} I did a hot oil treatment using Jamaican black castor oil. Normally I would leave it on for 15 minutes under my shower cap and warm towel, but I left it on for longer than that because my hair felt dry prior to doing the treatment.{2} I shampooed my hair and rinsed it with warm water.
{3} I added a protein deep conditioner to my ends for about 20 minutes.
{4} I rinsed it out and deep conditioned with a moisturizing deep conditioner with heat for 30 minutes.
{5} I rinsed out the deep conditioner and squeezed the water from my hair with a T-shirt while it was braided.
{6} After my hair was about 90% dry, I added my moisturizer, followed by my oil mix and my leave-in conditioner. I braided my hair and wrap it with a silk scarf.

Hairstyle of the week

When you get tired of going upstairs all day, you end up taking pictures without earrings on. Today was not a good day to take pictures anyway. The sun was in and out, and that really got me frustrated. But doing a protein treatment was exactly what my hair needed.  And adding products on top of products worked with the dryness. Hopefully this bun will stay fresh until Thursday. I hope you had a great wash day,  because mine was really good.
