My opinion

Head & Shoulders (For Textured Hair) Moisture Care Dandruff Shampoo works like any other sulfate shampoo. The only difference is that it does help with dandruff and itchiness. I get a great lather every time I use it. I  love the fresh tropical scent and the creamy consistency. It can easily be diluted with water because it is very thick. I personally like to mix my shampoo with a little bit of warm water before applying it to my scalp to ensure even distribution. I think the price is good, too. While I don’t have any problem using a sulfate shampoo, I do think the words enriched moisture for scalp and hair are  misleading. My scalp was left clean and buildup-free, but my ends felt very dry. And that’s after doing a hot oil treatment. Castor oil is not the easiest oil to remove from the hair after doing a hot oil treatment, but this shampoo left my hair squeaky clean. Most sulfate shampoos leave my scalp very itchy, but this one did not.

The bottom line

I think the idea of having a shampoo that cleans the scalp while keeping it cool and flake-free is a good concept.  My overall experience with Head & Shoulders 2-in-1 moisture care shampoo was a good one. The product did a good job at keeping my scalp clean. But as far as conditioning is concerned, I am sorry  to say that my kinky 4c hair did not get the conditioning treatment it was supposed to get from  this 2-in-1 shampoo. As with any other sulfate shampoo, this one can be drying if too much is
used on the hair itself. If you have itchy scalp and you want to get rid of your annoying dandruff,  you can give this shampoo a try. But if you are only looking for a good moisturizing shampoo, this is not the right one for you, especially if you have coarse hair.

 Pros

  • Fresh scent
  • Affordable
  • Nice packaging
  • Easy to follow directions
  • Removes flakes and other buildups
  • Helps with irritation
  • Reduces itchiness

Cons

  • Can be very drying on coarse hair.

My opinion

Head & Shoulders  Moisture care Co-Wash looks more like a hair mask. The consistency is like a plain Greek yogurt, but the color is a like a light brown or beige. It smells as good as the shampoo. The reason why we use a conditioner to wash our hair  is because we don’t want to use any shampoo on the hair itself, but the directions on the bottle state that you have to use this product after shampooing. So,  I followed the directions and applied the product on my hair after shampooing.  I left it on for about 5 minutes, then I rinsed well. The results? the heavens opened up and a bright light came shining on my hair. The angels were singing and all was well in my bathroom. My hair felt nourished. The moisture level went up, and there was a minimal need for a leave-in conditioner. BUT, when I used it 3 days later for a quick wash without the shampoo, the experience was not the same. My hair felt coated, sticky, and weight down. It takes a lot for my hair to get weighted down, that’s why I am still trying to understand what went wrong with this product.

 The bottom line

My hair texture did not receive the product really well as a co-wash. As a regular conditioner, I think it is one of the best that I have used so far. Head & Shoulders  Moisture care Co-Wash works great at replacing the moisture lost after using the 2-in-1 moisture care shampoo, which is what the product was created for, I assume. I am pretty sure it will work the same with any other shampoos also. But if you are looking for a good co-wash conditioner that will give your hair a break from using shampoo, I do not recommend this one. I will buy it in the future because I love the smell and the added moisture.

Pros
  • Smells great
  • Nicely packaged
  • Affordable
  • Relieves itching
  • Leaves hair manageable
  • Adds moisture when used with the shampoo
Cons
  • Not a great co-wash when used alone
  • No coconut oil listed on the label

peppermint oil complex and vitamin E.  Easy spray top for targeted
application anywhere, anytime.  Gentle enough for all hair types

INGREDIENTS

Alcohol Denat., Water, Niacinamide, PEG/PPG-20/23 Dimethicone,
Fragrance, Glycerin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer,
Panthenol, Menthol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahydroxypropyl
Ethylenediamine, Mentha Piperita Oil, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil

My opinion

Head & Shoulders Moisture Care Scalp Soother Treatment is very soothing and has a fresh peppermint scent. It smells like a regular hair spray with no hold. It drips when too much is used. I spray it on my scalp mostly after braiding my hair. It leaves my scalp feeling fresh  and my hair smelling good at the same time. I could feel the moisture in my hair right after using it, but the hair felt dry a few hours later.  The scent itself last a long time, which I really like because I can just use it on my crochet braids and not having to worry about washing my hair every 3 days. I think of if as my dry shampoo, but with more benefits.

The bottom line

I am a little uncomfortable with alcohol being the first ingredient on the label.  You should avoid this product if your scalp is already irritated or if you have any open cuts on your head. I learned the hard way. Other than that, I really enjoy using it on my scalp.

Pros

  • Nozzle dispenser with cap
  • Fresh minty feeling on the scalp
  • None-greasy
  • Affordable
  • Great for all hair types
  • Soothing
  • Relieves tightness after braiding
  • Reduces itching

Cons

  •    Too much alcohol

    Hi Nerline,
I tried this product before and my experience was similar to yours. Now I only use sulfate free for my hair. Loved reading the reviews on all of them.

Thanks for the honest review, I dont like shampoos that dries out hair as it leads to breakage.

I've stopped using sulfate shampoo's because a while ago I read on a article that I should avoid using sulfate rich products, shampoo in particular. So I don't know if this one would work for me. But glad you did the review though! Have a lovely week.

My husband is a huge fan of Head and Shoulders but I think I would skip this one. Not sure how they claim it's moisturizing yet add a ton of alcohol in it.

Such a detailed review, Nerline. I don't like it when there's too much alcohol in it, tho.

Is this line new? I never saw it before or didn´t pay attention. We always have at least one H&S product in the bathroom since many years. It´s a household name 🙂 Thanks for your review!

I love the pros, I tempted to try the co- wash. I have never used head-shoulders but it seems like a great product.
