How To Accept Your Gray Hair

The first time I noticed a gray hair on my head was about three years ago. It was on the right side and it was touching my ear. About a year or so later, I spotted a second one on the other side of my head right above my ear. I was like what the hell! A few days ago,  I was checking to see if my edges were on point,  and I saw that one. Okay, I am definitely old, I thought!  If “gray hair is a crown of beauty when it is found in the way of righteousness”  like it says in the bible – proverbs 16:31 – then I haven’t been too righteous.

I waited 38 years to see 3 strands of gray hair!! My little sister has more gray hair than I do. I feel like saying three Hail Mary(s) right now. I have never been a big fan of hair colors. So, I am not going to hide them by coloring my hair. It is a personal choice. You do what feels right for you. We will still love each other anyway!

How To Accept Your Gray Hair

Every time I get a wash day report from my blogger friend, Lenya, it is always as boring and as blank as a sheet of paper. Today, I am happy to report that my last wash day was exactly like hers. All I did was adding conditioner to my hair, left it on for a few minutes, then hopped into the shower and rinsed it out. I am seriously getting tired of regular shampoos drying my ends out. I applied my oil mix to moisturize my hair after it was about 85% dry. I used 100% Kanekalon synthetic hair to twist my hair the next day.

Hair of the Week

Sorry about the quality of the pictures. We haven’t been having the best weather here these days. How did you feel when you saw your first gray hair?

Your hair look stunning, love it like this. I have greys too, well they are coming in white, so I think I am on my way to turning into Storm from the X-Men soon. But, I think I will dye it until it all comes in white and then I will leave it, haha!!! You look super xx

Beautiful Nerline, love the twist and your up-do! I'm 36 and I saw my first gray hair last year, and a new one last night, lol. I am not ready! 🙁

I am sure I will find more if I really look around. I was not ready either, but there's nothing I can do about it:-)

I have about 3 gray hairs at the edges too and there's nothing I can do about it. When people point it out, and ask me what I'm doing to cover it, I reply with 'nothing'.

It took me about 8 hours. Thanks for stopping by.

Earlier this year I notice my first one at 37 and for the first time ever I felt old. Old in the sense that I'm no longer a kid but a mom with a career who does carpool, homework and conference calls. As Oprah would say it was a ah aha moment.

    • September 5, 2015 / 10:53 am

Now that's what I call wisdom!!

Everyone in my family grayed early. I started getting them in my mid 20s. LOL My mom's hair is all gray and it is so beautiful. I'm not ready to stop coloring mine, but maybe when I'm 60.

Kim! Now that you mentioned it, I think if my husband does not like it I will have to color it. Thanks for stopping by, love.

The colors on that scarf are beautiful. Most people in my family get a distinct grey pattern. I like the look of it so I'm kind of looking forward to it.
