Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Cleanser REVIEW

When you have acne, you are always looking for the next best thing. Even if you have a product that’s already working, you still want to try other products to either get faster results,  or save more money. And so is my story. When I got the notice that I was going to review Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Cleanser, I was very excited because the name Michael Todd Beauty is synonymous to #clearskin. Let’s see if the product met all my expectations!

Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Cleanser

Directions

Shake well before each use. Wet face and hands with warm water. Apply cleanser onto hands and gently massage onto damp face in upward, circular motions. Rinse thoroughly.

My opinion

Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Cleanser  has a gel-like consistency, but it does not feel sticky. You don’t need a lot to get great results.  It does not lather like a regular soap bar, but it cleanses the face thoroughly. The first thing that I noticed is Aloe Vera being the first ingredient on the list. That probably explains why my skin felt moisturized and refreshed every time I used the product. The product cleans my face very well. I have seen a significant change on my nose. My blackheads are not as noticeable as they used to be. And my face looks slightly smoother after using the product for only one week.

The product came nicely packaged. It comes in a 6.7 oz  purple pump bottle. The pump dispenses the right amount of gel for one wash, but I try not to use a full pump because the scent lingers and I don’t like the smell very much. If you’ve used products made with charcoal before, you totally understand what I mean.

Pros
  • Nicely packaged
  • Purple bottle with pump dispenser
  • Cleanses well
  • Smooth, soft finish
  • No dry feeling
  • Cruelty free
  • Reduces blemishes and blackheads
  • 70% Organic
Cons
  • I can’t stand the smell
The bottom line
As much as I appreciate the quick results that I got from using the product, I can’t get passed the smell. And the other problem is that it lingers. If you need a product that will clean your acne prone skin without leaving it feeling dry, I think  Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Cleanser can get the job done. The smell is the only thing I don’t like about it so far.

I haven't tried any products made with charcoal yet and it's so good to know that they have an unpleasant scent. I definitely won't be trying any without smelling them first. Great review!

Well I think the smell is probably not everyones cup of tea, but I know what you mean. That´s mostly normal for charcoal products. I actually really want to try Michael Todd products, cause they seem to be working well from what I read on several pages. Too bad they don´t sell in Europe. I guess I will have to look into the brand closer, when I am back in the States. Thanks for your detailed review hun! Really appreciate it.

LOL "I can't stand the smell" So true! Charcoal is stinky but hey if it gets the job done.

I'm also acne prone but mostly on my left cheek and left side of my chin (weird I know). The rest of my face stays pretty clear. I just purchased Shea Moisture's sensitive skin rose peace oil cleanser and so far so good.

I've always heard of Michael Todd products, but never tried them. I use a product with charcoal as an ingredient now, and I love how it brightens my skin. I hate when a product has an overpowering scent though. Most days, I don't mind because it gives great results in the long run. Other days, however, it triggers headaches.

Thanks for sharing your thorough and honest review with us, Nerline!

Even though the products have so many pros, an annoying fragrance can spoil it fully.

I've never heard of this product but it sure sounds like it works very well. Although too bad the scent is not good.

I think it's awesome how it cleans yet keeps your face moisturized. Usually acne products dry skin out. So that is awesome. Now they just need to work on the scent. A lot of charcoal products don't smell good LOL

I had never heard of this brand. I like the packaging. It's a shame the scent is too much for you especially since it worked.

Thanks for the heads up on this product, Nerline. I have acne-prone skin, and have been looking at charcoal products lately for deep cleaning. I'm not that sensitive to strong smells so I can probably take this:D

Sounds like a great product but on the real, I'm not interested in something that doesn't smell good. Thanks for the honest review. 🙂
