Treasured Locks HydraCap Deep Hydrating Conditioning Cap REVIEW

Treasured Locks HydraCap Deep Hydrating Conditioning Cap promises to lock in the moisture, retain body heat, and help penetrate the deep conditioning treatment to the hair follicles. Who does not want that?  I received this product to try and review, but the opinion expressed below is 100% my own.

Treasured Locks HydraCap Deep Hydrating Conditioning Cap REVIEW

How Treasured Locks describes the product:

The HydraCap shrinks to fit your head using the hot air from an ordinary hair dryer. Hot air blown directly on your hair dries the hair out. By shrinking the Hydra-Cap to your head, you capture moisture and heat and drive the deep conditioning treatment into the hair itself. All you need is the conditioning treatment or hot oil and an ordinary blow dryer to shrink the cap to fit your head.  It’s the snug fit that makes it so very different from an ordinary conditioning cap.
The Hydra-Cap is economical and easy to use.

  • Locks in moisture
  • No drips
  • Less Mess
  • Easy hot oil treatments and deep conditioning in your own home
  • Affordable- less than $1.00 per treatment!

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Saturate and mask hair with conditioners or hot oil treatments.
  • Secure hair with butterfly clips or hair band.
  • Place cap over the head and pull it over ears and forehead.
  • Do not pull below eye level or over the face.
  • Heat cap with hair dryer, starting with the edges from front to back, and then proceed all over cap. Don’t miss any spots.
  • The cap will start shrink to a snug fit.
  • On average, keep cap on for 15 to 20 minutes. The conditioners will start penetrating conditioners into the hair follicle.
  • Remove cap gently and rinse excess conditioner or oil from hair

hair.

My opinion

Treasured Locks HydraCap Deep Hydrating Conditioning Cap is very easy to use. The package contains six caps that you can only use once. They can be used for any deep penetrating treatment. Unlike regular conditioning caps, the HydraCap keeps the heat inside once you shrink it using a hair dryer. My first experience with the Deep Hydrating Conditioning cap did not go too well. I was sweating a lot and I could not get the cap to hug my forehead while applying the heat. I decided to use it a second time before doing my review. After applying my deep conditioner, I added a little bit of coconut oil to my hair, then I put the HydraCap on. I had a better experience the second time around. I got the cap to shrink around my edges first. Then I used the dryer to shrink it on the top of my head. I wrapped my head with a towel and waited for the cap to work its magic. Twenty  (20) minutes later,  I removed the cap to rinse out the conditioner. All I could say was holy softness! My hair felt 10 times softer and my towel did not get messy. The best thing about this product is that my hair stayed frizz-free for a full week.
The bottom line
This cap is not for everyone. If you worried about using too much heat while deep conditioning your hair, then it is not for you. But if you have low porosity hair and you need help getting your cuticle layers to lift up for a deeper penetration, this cap will do your hair some serious good. You can also benefit from this cap if your hair is severely damaged due to heat styling or harsh chemicals.  I will definitely buy this product in the future. And I highly recommend it.

Great review Nerline! This sounds very interesting. Do you have to use a held dryer or a hooded dryer would work just as well.

I used a handheld dryer. I think it is recommended to shrink the edges first. Excellent question.

A handheld is recommended to shrink the edges of the cap, you can use a hooded after you shrink it if you need extra heat.

Very detailed and informative post. I never heard of this hair cap before now and I am amazed at how effective it is. Great tip on shrinking the edges first to hold the cap in place.

    Have a great weekend.

Nerline, I bought one of these on a whim months ago and have yet to use it. When I clicked on this post I thought the cap looked familiar! I guess I never took the time to read the directions in order to use it. Thank you so much for sharing this post and giving such great detail on use and results. I'm gonna give it a try soon.

These caps sound pretty good, Nerline. My hair is so damaged, and I usually just use regular plastic bags to wrap around my hair when I do this, and it's not always the best sometimes:P

I commented on this post few days ago, but by the look of it my comment didn't make it. Lol! Anywhos I'm back to say, this is a great and wouldn't trying it at all. I normally use a plastic bag to cover my hair when I deep condition. Ha!
Have a blessed week ahead sis.
