How Not To Look Overdressed At A Friend’s Wedding

My husband leads the usher team at our church. We did not only feel honored when we got invited to one of his ushers’ wedding, we felt privileged. Not only because our daughter was the flower girl, but also because both my son and my daughter were the only children  there at the wedding. And my husband being the only Haitian I know who is always, always on time, decided that we would leave the house early, not even giving me enough time to do my makeup. So, I did my makeup in the car. But guess what? We got there almost an  hour early. At that point, the only logical thing to do was to take some pictures because the location was so beautiful.

How Not To Look Overdressed At A Friend’s Wedding

Hey guys!! To say that I have been so busy lately would be the understatement of the year. I don’t even want to get into it. But do you remember that verse from 1 Corinthians 13? “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” Have you ever been so in love that nobody can tell you nothing? So in love that life makes no sense without the other person? That’s when you know it is time to tie the knot. Hubby and I just celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary last month.

I look totally different here.

We got married in a Catholic church, but I went to a Christian/Pentecostal school as a young girl and got baptized in one when I was 22 years old. The Priest gave each of us a brochure to read and a long questionnaire to fill out to find out if we were compatible with each other. And I will never forget one of the quotes that I read from that brochure, “Love is not the butterflies that we feel in our stomachs. It is what is left after all the butterflies are gone.” Can I get an Amen? Come on now! When you feel that you are not being understood or listened to, the first thing to do is to think about the reasons why you got married in the first place.  Don’t be afraid to hurt his feelings, because the truth does hurt sometimes. But if you don’t tell him, how else would he know? Don’t just assume that he does. After all, he is a man. And men are clueless 90% of the time. LOL!

The bride finally arrived

I don’t know what our pastor said to the groom that made him smile and calmed his nerves, but he is one the shyest people I know. Although we got there early, everything was on time. The ceremony started on time. We danced until midnight,  and we were late for church the next day. I cannot wait to show you what I wore to church. Hint: look at my shoes. What have you been up to?
