5 Things That Get Me Excited About The Fall Season

I think one of the misconceptions about Haiti is that we have summer all year long.  No. We have fall too. The temperature does drop down to the 60s in January and February in Haiti. I remember sitting outside at night and feeling cold in my bones. We also have cold mornings and warm afternoons like we do here during the fall. So, your winter here is our fall in Haiti. But for as long as I can remember, fall has always been my favorite season. Summer was way too hot. We did not have winter. And spring? Well, spring was too wet. It rained a lot during the spring season, and I did not like it. I still don't. But fall? There are so many reasons why I loved fall. I love the change in nature and its meaning. Fall makes me think about the circle of life. How we must grow old to make room for the new. Like a newborn, for example. I love to see how  most trees lose all their leaves and look like they are dead during the winter, only to grow back new leaves during the spring. To me, it is like losing everything we owned and gaining it all back. Fall reminds me that whatever we go through in life, it is just a season. Below are some of the things that get me excited about the fall season.

1. Fall Reading

With the kids being at home during the summer, I don't really get a chance to do much reading. But I love a good fall read. And a good cup of  pumpkin hot chocolate goes really well with that.

2. Pumpkin Everything

I love a good pumpkin soup. But the truth is, I love pumpkin everything. Who does not like the scent of pumpkin spice candles? I just love to see pumpkins as decorations for fall and Halloween, although I don't decorate the house for Halloween.

3. Fall flowers

I love to keep the inside of my house looking like outside during the fall season. I wish I could bring all the trees inside the house, but that's not possible.  Fall flowers - natural or not - is a good way for me to bring fall in.

4. Fall beauty and fashion

Fall puts us in a different mood. Fall  means beautiful nail colors, lipsticks, and fabrics. I love to wear a combination of fall colors. They remind me of home. And don't forget fall boots and sweaters. These are definitely the things I look forward to before the season starts.

5. Halloween with the Kids

If you didn't know that about me, I love children!!!! And the best part about Halloween to me is giving away treats to the children in the neighborhood. Each year, hubby and I take turns going trick-o-treating with our kids so one of us can stay home to give away candy.

  5. I love pumpkin everything to eat or drink and the vibrant Orange colors. The only thing that reminds us of Fall here is raking up the leaves. The temp is still in the 80's.

  8. Fall is definitely my favorite season, the weather, and changing nature around me makes me feel like a kid again. My tradition for Fall is to buy a pumpkin pie of my very own and eat it throughout the week, I do share it with my son :)) It used to start in November closer to Thanksgiving, but now since pumpkin pie is here in October I buy it sooner. I do it once or maybe twice before Thanksgiving, haha!!

  10. That orange shirt looks lovely on you! I used to say summer is my favorite season but we've been having such great weather this autumn I've been loving it. Fashion wise I love the deep jewel tones we start seeing this time of year.
